Teaching the Class Without Failing at Life!
A recent Gallup poll shows that almost half of teachers (48%) in the U.S. say they are actively looking for a different job now or watching for opportunities. The demands of teaching are endless. There are not always opportunities for career advancement, and the pay is not competitive with other professionals. Many complain of low morale at the schools. Burnout among teachers is a real concern in our society. We are losing highly talented teachers each year because they “just can’t continue”! In this seminar, David and Cheryl Morrow will assist teachers in determining their current level of burnout symptoms, and develop a plan to ensure the stress of teaching does not negatively impact their personal life.
What will educators learn in this seminar?
- The signs and symptoms of burnout as they specifically apply to teachers, para-professionals, and academic administrators.
- Through collaboration, attendees can discuss specific stresses that impact the lives of educators.
- They will learn new skills that will help them develop a plan to move beyond the stress and rejuvenate their perspective.
- Participants will individually write specific goals that will clearly define their boundaries, provide for their own self-care, and ensure they are not neglecting their personal lives and family members.
Fruitful Vine Family Ministries is a non-profit organization and our mission is based on our Christian Faith. However, when teaching in a public school, we will respect the boundaries and guildelines associated with religious expressions in that school.
Who are the presenters?
Cheryl Morrow is currently in her 25th year as an elementary school teacher in Craven County. She is currently teaching fifth grade at Bridgeton Elementary School but has experience in second grade third grade, fourth grade, and as a Title 1 Interventionist. She has served in many school leadership roles over the years. She is a graduate from East Carolina University and holds a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. She also is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Cheryl enjoys students, former students, and family members of students coming up to her in public places and reconnecting with them. She feels accomplished when students from years ago share with her about their careers, knowing careers start with the basics.
Rev. R. David Morrow LMFT is a marriage and family therapist with 30 years of experience as a mental health professional. Annually, he provides approximately 10100 hours of counseling to individuals, couples, and families. He graduated from Campbell University and Southern Seminary where he earned a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling. He is an author, an energetic speaker, and a musician.
David and Cheryl Married in June of 2016, and they enjoy fulfilling the mission of Fruitful Vine Family Ministries. Prevention of a problem is better than allowing a problem to develop, and addressing a problem before it gets out of control is better than waiting util the problem demands your attention. Just like in education, early intervention is the key to problem-solving.
