Our History
In 2014, David and Cheryl Morrow met on Christian Mingle when each of them was looking for a life-long companion and marital partner. During their first interaction with each other, the attraction was real to each of them. They spoke by phone for 27 hours during the week following their online introductions. During those conversations, each of them shared that God had given a vision of a ministry to help couples and families. As they shared, it became very real to both of them that God had not only ordained their relationship. God also gave both of them the same vision for ministry. Even though the direction God provided was clear, both wanted to date and make 100% sure their relationship would stand the test of time. They married in June of 2016. A little more than a year later, Fruitful Vine Family Ministries was born.
FVFM started with a for profit business model. However, they learned that they needed valuable guidance, accountability, and structure. A board of directors could provide that, but Fruitful Vine Family Ministries did not have the financial resources needed to attract a for-profit board of directors. In 2019, David and Cheryl made a decision to move to a nonprofit model. January 25th, 2020 was the first meeting for the FVFM Board of Directors. Currently, Fruitful Vine Family Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is recognized by the state of North Carolina. In July of 2020, FVFM submitted a Form 1023, which is the Internal Revenue Service’s application for the 501(c)(3) status. Hopefully the ministry can seek funding from a variety of sources that will allow us to reach out and provide the services to the families in any place that will open their doors.
The first seminar that David Morrow created is called Feeding the Flock Without Starving Yourself. It is designed for pastors and other ministers that lead a congregation of people. Burnout is very common among pastors, and this seminar helps a minister identify his/her risk of burnout, and identify his/her self-neglect and neglect of his/her family. When a minister leaves this seminar, she/he will have a developed list of goals or at least goal ideas that will assist in process of fighting against burnout and remaining healthy. Currently, David has presented this seminar on five different occasions, with success each time. Click HERE for more info.
Recommit, Restore, and Renew is the primary seminar that David and Cheryl have developed. It is a Biblically-based seminar that is designed for couples, and the unique thing about this seminar is that is is personalized for the individual couples who attend, and it is also personalized for the group of couples who attend. The seminar addresses 10 specific issues that consistently impact couples and when a couple is not able to work as a team on these issues, struggles will eventually start and get increasingly more difficult. This seminar is fun, full of laughter, and designed to help a couple recommit to each other, to give God an opportunity to restore the love they feel for each other, and to celebrate the joy of their renewal. According to Lifeway Research, few churches have a plan to help individuals and families through a mental health crisis. Yet, families often look to their ministers for help during all types of crisis. This seminar is designed to help ministers have a very basic understanding of mental illness, and an opportunity to ask questions about mental illness with David Morrow, how is a mental health professional with 30 years of experience, and also a seminary trained ordained minister. The training highlights local resources to ensure that ministers know who to call, other than the Ghostbusters. For more information, click HERE.
