Cheryl Morrow
Following her graduation from East Carolina University, Cheryl returned home to Craven County. She began teaching elementary school in 1996, and has now completed 25 years in the classroom. She has taught 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd grades. In 2004 she earned National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist. This is a certification provided by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and it takes 1-3 years to complete it. The National Board Certification is the highest professional certification that a teacher can earn. This special certification does require a re-certification process every 10 years, and the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards re-certified Cheryl in 2014. When Cheryl walks around the New Bern NC area, she is often approached by students, former students, parents of former students or other relatives that just want to say “Hi.” After 25 years of teaching, her early students are now adults and have careers of their own. Cheryl loves to see young children grasp the basics of reading, writing, math, and science. Once she has done that job well, then she enjoys just watching and waiting to seek what each student will achieve. Her full resume is HERE. Cheryl recently earned her real estate license and is enjoying her second career.
